Schools really value your time and expertise, but sometimes they just need a donation. That can take several forms: shop supplies, parts, components and assemblies, tools, equipment, class t-shirts, uniforms, towing, vehicles, and scholarships are just a few ideas. Ask what the school needs and make sure whatever you donate reflects current technology.
Some schools repair donated cars and sell them to fund program costs, although this varies by local regulations and liability limitations. Collision programs may take a totaled car, use it to practice repair procedures, and return it later for auction. Some new car dealers are able to work in conjunction with automakers to donate a new vehicle. These can be decaled or wrapped with the dealer’s name for ongoing recognition.
Every donation is also an opportunity for social media promotion and building goodwill in the school community.
